Netball Wrap – Round 10

Division 2
Cheltenham 45 – Murrumbeena 49
Round 10 both teams started strongly, goal for goal, with the girls excellent ball skills and defence down the court we managed to keep the score as close as possible. By half time the score 24 – 18 really got the girls fired up, we were ready to give it all we had. All the girls continued to provide pressure to the opposing team fighting as hard as we could, we weren’t giving up! By the fourth quarter we were still down by only a few goals now but we continued to encourage & support each other, our attacking, defence & shooting were outstanding but unfortunately led us to a loss 49 – 45. Thanks to Emily & Laura who filled in for us.

Division 3
Cheltenham 46 – Bentleigh 12

Division 5
Cheltenham 32 – Highett 41
The Div 5 girls took on Highett over the weekend, for another cold and rainy game day. It was clear this was going to be a tough game, with Highett coming out looking very strong and confident. The defenders had their work cut out for them playing against some physical shooters, whose height were hard to combat. However Jen made some integral intercepts – turnovers that were well needed. Mel, Keira, Aimee and Kate worked exceptionally well together, working hard to move the ball down the court despite the slippery surface. Our shooters held strong against some more tall players, but their accuracy and handy rebounds meant we were able to match Highett’s competitiveness. Overall the girls worked really well as a team, playing some hard and highly contested ball. It was a very physical game with some hard hits but Highett unfortunately came out with the win. A big thanks to Kate for filling in!

Division 7
Cheltenham 24 – Lyndhurst 41

We had wet conditions yet again with the court being a little slippery, but that didn’t stop the girls in Div 7 to fight as hard as they could to the finish. Since one of our star shooters Beth is on a well-deserved break in 28-degree weather, we got Renee to shoot for us and she did an amazing job. Her height definitely stood out in our team as the girls in Div 7 aren’t the tallest bunch. Everyone was working so hard to put all our practice into play. Scores were pretty level in the first three quarters. The shooting and defence were working well to maintain that position. We were positive that we could fight this one out. However, during the fourth quarter, Lyndhurst gained the upper hand and ended up winning 41-24. Although we lost, we had a lot to take from this game as a team and it gave us a better idea of what we have to work on at training.
