Netball Mid-Season Update

The 2026 season has reached the halfway mark, and it’s been another fantastic year for the Cheltenham Football Netball Club.

After an outstanding 2025 campaign that delivered five premierships, we were proud to once again field nine teams this season, including two teams competing in the A1 division. Maintaining nine competitive teams while expanding our presence at the highest level is a tremendous achievement and reflects the continued growth of our netball program.

With the run home now underway, we’re excited by the position many of our teams have worked hard to earn. A1.1 are sitting comfortably in second place and look well placed for a strong finals campaign. A4 have secured a place in the top four, while B2 remain in the hunt, sitting fifth on percentage and capable of pushing into finals with a strong finish. C2 continue to lead the competition despite some availability challenges, and C3 have been outstanding all season, holding second position and looking every bit a premiership contender.

To potentially have five teams playing finals is a fantastic reward for the dedication of our players, coaches and volunteers.

This season has also seen several significant player milestones. Congratulations to our newest 100-game players – Kelsey Eade, Meg Siedle, Alex Siedle and Lauren Hucker – who have each made an outstanding contribution to the Cheltenham Football Netball Club over many seasons. It’s also pleasing to see a number of players reaching their 50-game milestones, highlighting the loyalty, commitment and strong club culture that continues to keep players connected to the Zellas.

A heartfelt thank you goes to all of our team sponsors. Their continued support plays a significant role in the success of our program and allows our players to perform at their best each week.

We also recognise our coaches and umpires, who generously volunteer countless hours to develop our players and create a positive environment for everyone involved. Their commitment is invaluable.

One of the defining features of our club continues to be our One Club culture. Players regularly step up to play multiple games or help other teams when needed, ensuring we field competitive sides every week. That willingness to support each other is what makes our club so special and is a major reason we continue to field strong, competitive teams across every grade.

Off the court, our annual Ladies Day was a huge success, attracting a fantastic crowd and creating a wonderful atmosphere. Thank you to Ray White Bayside Group for their valued support, and a special thank you to Shannon Wallis and her family for their incredible organisation in delivering such a memorable event.

We’re also looking forward to the upcoming Bendigo Bank Community Cup Challenge against the Parkdale Vultures, which promises to be one of the highlights of the season.

Overall, our netball program continues to provide a strong presence and valuable contribution to the Cheltenham Football Netball Club. Thank you to our committee, volunteers, families, supporters and the wider Cheltenham community. Your ongoing support enables our netball program to continue growing both on and off the court.

Here’s to an exciting second half of the season. Go Zellas!
